The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has launched an online application allowing motorists to renew their driver’s license entirely online.
LTO said that the Online Driver’s License Renewal System (ODLRS) via eGovPH app, aimed at making government services faster, modernized, and hassle-free in line with the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“This is a better alternative for going to LTO offices since you don’t need to shell out money for transportation to our offices and don’t even need to queue in any license renewal offices,” LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II said.
This initiative is part of administration’s push for digital transformation in government services, spearheaded by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon.
Aside from convenience, LTO said the online renewal system also aims to curb the presence of fixers and unauthorized intermediaries who often take advantage of license applicants.
"Ang message namin sa mga fixer, simple lng, maghanap na kayo ng ibang mga raket, maghanap na kayo ng ibang pagkakakitaan," Dizon said.
"Huwag niyo ng pagkakitaan ‘yung mga kababayan natin. At huwag niyo na abusihn ang mga kababayan natin. Dahil sa online driver’s license renewal hindi na kayo kailangan, wala na kayong raket dahil dito," he added.
To use the service, applicants can upload their driver’s license details, a valid medical certificate, and even their preferred photo and signature through the app.
Moreover, LTO said that payments can be made conveniently via e-wallets or online banking platforms. Once the application is processed, the physical license card can be delivered directly to the applicant’s home.
