The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has launched an immediate investigation following a complaint filed by transport blogger and writer James Deakin against several personnel of the LTO Central Office.

LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, also ordered the temporary suspension of the involved employees while a thorough review of the alleged irregularities in the processing of Deakin’s child’s confiscated driver’s license is conducted.

The incident reportedly occurred after a traffic violation on Skyway Stage 3 in Quezon City on December 18, 2025.

As part of the investigation, the LTO has requested CCTV footage from the Skyway Corporation to determine whether the actions of the deputized Law Enforcement Officer involved in the incident were justified and in accordance with agency policies.

The review of the footage forms part of a comprehensive inquiry aimed at establishing the facts and maintaining public trust.

In an online statement, Asec. Lacanilao emphasized that the agency takes all complaints seriously. “Naninindigan ang LTO sa integridad, pananagutan, at patuloy na repormang institusyonal,” he said.

Asec. Lacanilao further noted the importance of public feedback in identifying areas of LTO operations that may require improvement.

The LTO underscored that if any personnel are found to have violated existing regulations, appropriate disciplinary and corrective measures will be implemented in line with the law and the agency’s commitment to a transparent, fair, and accountable service for motorists.
