The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a Show Cause Order to the registered owner of a motorcycle and its designated driver after a viral Facebook video showed a dangerous “Superman stunt” in motion.
In the video, the rider is seen lying face-down with his body elevated above the motorcycle seat, an act that clearly endangered public safety.
The LTO has instructed the owner and driver to appear before its Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) at East Avenue, Quezon City, on January 30, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. They are required to submit a notarized comment explaining why they should not face administrative penalties for reckless driving, failing to comply with mandatory helmet use, and wearing improper footwear while operating a motorcycle.
Moreover, they must also justify why the driver’s license should not be suspended or canceled for being deemed an “improper person to operate a motor vehicle.”
Meanwhile, the motorcycle has been placed on alarm status, and the driver’s license will be temporarily suspended for 90 days while the investigation is ongoing.
he LTO stressed that failure to appear or submit the notarized comment will be considered consent to the proceedings, allowing the agency to continue its investigation and make recommendations based on available documentation.
“Ang kaligtasan ng publiko ang una nating priyoridad sa LTO. Hindi tayo papayag na pahintulutan ang anumang uri ng pagmamaneho na nagdudulot ng panganib sa mga tao sa kalsada,” said Asec. Lacanilao.
