The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order (SCO) against a government employee seen in a viral video allegedly assaulting a fellow motorist, following orders from LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao.
Under the SCO, the employee and a representative of the government agency where the vehicle is registered are required to appear before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) on January 27, at 1:00 p.m. to explain why they should not face administrative charges for obstruction and why the employee’s driver’s license should not be suspended for being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
Pending the investigation, the vehicle involved has been placed under alarm status, while the employee’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days. The LTO warned that failure to attend the scheduled hearing would be considered a waiver of the right to be heard, and the case would be resolved based on available records.
Asec. Lacanilao stressed that government employees are expected to set an example of lawful and respectful behavior, adding that the LTO is committed to ensuring accountability, public safety, and proper conduct on the road.
