LTO issues SCO vs. car driver, owner of vehicle over ‘dangerous’ turn
by Jim Fernandez25 October 2026

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced on Sunday that it has issued a show cause order (SCO) against the driver and registered owner of a vehicle that had “dangerously” been maneuvered from a straight-ahead lane to make a turn.

As seen in a video posted in a Facebook group on October 3, the sedan crossed a marked pedestrian lane from the straight-ahead lane to make a turn at an intersection, despite the absence of a designated turning lane.

The vehicle driver and owner were ordered through the SCO to appear before the Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) at the LTO’s Central Office along East Avenue, Quezon City on October 29, and submit a sworn statement and relevant, original documents relating to the incident.

The SCO cited Right of Way and Turning at Intersections violations, with the driver possibly being declared an Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.

The driver’s license was placed under a 90-day suspension, which he was instructed to immediately surrender to the IID.

Moreover, the vehicle in question has been placed under alert status while the investigation and the agency’s corresponding procedures remain ongoing.

“May tamang lane at tamang paraan ng pagliko sa intersection. Hindi puwedeng basta tumawid sa pedestrian lane para lang makaliko dahil inilalagay nito sa panganib ang mga pedestrian at ibang gumagamit ng kalsada. Sisiguraduhin nating mananagot ang drayber sa kanyang ginawa at haharapin niya ang kaukulang aksyon,” said LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao.
