The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has issued a show cause order (SCO) against actor Niño Muhlach as part of its investigation into a vehicular accident in Antipolo City, Rizal that left one person injured and damaged several establishments.
The LTO also ordered the preventive suspension of Muhlach’s driver’s license for 90 days and placed the vehicle involved in the crash under alarm status.
Based on the LTO’s investigation and evidence gathered, including a report from the Antipolo Component City Police Station, Muhlach allegedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to cross into the opposite lane before hitting three establishments and a parked motorcycle.
One person was injured after being struck by the vehicle.
Muhlach earlier admitted in a social media post that he had fallen asleep while driving due to extreme fatigue.
He also acknowledged responsibility for the incident and expressed his willingness to shoulder the personal and legal consequences, including assisting the injured individual and addressing the damage caused to the establishments.
As part of the proceedings, Muhlach and the registered vehicle owner are required to appear before the LTO’s Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) for a hearing on August 28, 2026.
They were also ordered to submit sworn explanations and other relevant documents in response to the allegations stated in the SCO.
Muhlach may face administrative sanctions for violations of existing LTO rules and regulations, including reckless driving and being an improper person to operate a motor vehicle.
The LTO has directed Muhlach to surrender his driver’s license to the IID, where it will be placed under a 90-day preventive suspension while the investigation continues.
