LTO chief orders reassignment of 2 regional directors amid corruption probe
by Mary Antalan15 January 2026

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has reassigned the regional directors of LTO Regions 7 and 4B to the LTO Central Office in Quezon City amid allegations of corruption and an ongoing investigation.

In a statement, the LTO said that the reassignment was ordered pursuant to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Office Order No. 2026-011 and formalized through an LTO memorandum.

According to the agency, the move was implemented to prevent the officials from influencing the impartial investigation into the allegations against them.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao stressed that addressing corruption is a key component of his seven-point agenda for the LTO, which focuses on institutional reforms, transparency, and the elimination of unethical practices within the agency.

“This reassignment is a clear signal of our resolve to pursue justice without compromise—we will not allow any individual to hinder efforts to cleanse our ranks and restore public trust in the LTO’s services.” Lacanilao said.

The investigation will be conducted by designated oversight units within the DOTr, with the findings to be released to the public once the probe is completed.
