The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has barred a Bataan Transit bus driver from driving after testing positive for illegal drugs during inspections ahead of Undas 2026.

According to a report by RH Val Gonzales, LTO Law Enforcement Service Director retired Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza said the agency is conducting roadworthiness inspections, alcohol breath tests and drug screening in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to ensure passenger safety.

“Talagang mahigpit ang ginagawa ng LTO ngayon para siguraduhin na yung ating mananakay ay safe.”

The LTO is also deploying K-9 units to check buses and passengers for prohibited items as thousands are expected to travel to the provinces for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Nobleza said a driver's license is immediately confiscated following a positive initial drug test. The driver must then undergo confirmatory testing, and a positive result will lead to the revocation of the license. Those who test positive are also subject to rehabilitation.

The LTO urged passengers to arrive at terminals early to avoid overcrowding, keep an eye on their belongings and ensure children are properly supervised.

The agency also reminded travelers that public assistance desks staffed by LTO and Philippine National Police personnel are available at terminals to assist passengers during the Undas travel period.

“Nandito lang ang LTO. Kung meron kayong mga kailangan ng mga tulong, mayroong mga public assistance desk, ang PNP at LTO, mayroon din para tumulong sa ating mga pasahero.”
