The Land Transportation Office (LTO) arrested 12 people, including two LTO officials, during an anti-fixing entrapment operation in Pasay City on Aug. 14, the agency said.
The operation was conducted by personnel from the LTO Law Enforcement Service–Field Enforcement Division, Philippine Coast Guard and Philippine National Police, including officers from the Pasay City Police Station and Sub-Station 8.
The arrested individuals will undergo investigation and face charges if found to have been involved in illegal fixing activities, the LTO said.
The two LTO personnel from the Pasay District Office were immediately removed from their posts by LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao pending administrative proceedings.
“Hindi kami magbubulag-bulagan sa ganitong gawain,” Lacanilao said, adding that the agency knows how fixers operate, including possible involvement by LTO employees.
Lacanilao said the LTO would continue expanding its operations to identify and eliminate fixing activities within its offices as part of the agency’s seven-point reform agenda.
The LTO said it would work with other law enforcement agencies to identify, hold accountable and prosecute those involved in illegal transactions.
The agency also urged the public not to transact with fixers and to report suspicious activities or offers of illegal services through its official Facebook page, “Ireport Mo Kay LTO Chief,” or through ireportmokayltochief.ph.
The reports will be verified and investigated for appropriate action, the LTO said.
