The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has issued a show cause order against the operator of a taxi allegedly involved in overcharging South Korean singer Soobin during his visit to Cebu.

The action follows a viral video of the incident. LTFRB Chairperson Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II ordered the operator to surrender the taxi’s license plate and the driver’s license.

An initial investigation found the taxi, body number 4351, deliberately avoided using the meter and overcharged the passenger. The unit has been suspended for 30 days.

Mendoza said the move aligns with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to protect passengers. A hearing is set for April 21.

“We are with the taxi drivers who follow the rules and regulations but we will make sure that we will send a strong message on what will happen if they ignore and defy the rules and regulations at the expense of the passengers,” said Mendoza.
