The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) reminded public utility vehicle (PUV) operators and drivers to post the updated fare guide inside their vehicles before implementing the fare increases starting Monday, September 28, 2026.
In an advisory, the LTFRB said operators and drivers must ensure that the latest fare guide is posted inside their vehicles before collecting the adjusted fares.
The updated fare guide may be downloaded for free through the LTFRB’s official website.
The agency also urged commuters to report PUVs that fail to display the updated fare guide by calling the LTFRB 1342 Hotline or sending a message to its official Facebook page.
The LTFRB said complaints will be acted upon in accordance with existing rules and regulations.
The advisory came after the Department of Transportation (DOTr) approved the recommendation to increase fares for various PUVs.
DOTr Secretary Giovanni Lopez said he issued a memorandum to the LTFRB lifting the suspension on the implementation of the fare increases. The memorandum, dated September 24, supports the fare adjustment approved by the LTFRB in March 2026, as well as provisional fare adjustments for UV Express and taxi services pending the resolution of their petitions.
The DOTr said the fare adjustments take into account the rising operating costs of public transport operators and the need to keep public transportation services available and sustainable.
Under the approved March fare adjustments, the following increases will take effect on September 28:
- Traditional jeepneys: Minimum fare increases from ₱13 to ₱14
- Modern jeepneys: Minimum fare increases from ₱15 to ₱17
- Ordinary Metro Manila/city buses: Minimum fare increases from ₱13 to ₱15
- Air-conditioned Metro Manila/city buses: Minimum fare increases from ₱15 to ₱18
- Ordinary provincial buses: Minimum fare increases from ₱11 to ₱12
- Air-conditioned provincial buses: ₱2.45 increase per succeeding kilometer
- Airport taxis: Flag-down rate for the first 500 meters increases from ₱75 to ₱115
- TNVS: ₱20 increase in the base fare, depending on vehicle type
- P2P buses: 15% fare increase
The LTFRB was also directed to ensure that the mandatory fare discounts for students, senior citizens and persons with disabilities remain in effect.
The board will also monitor compliance with the new fares and act on complaints involving overcharging.
The fare hike comes amid rising fuel prices and calls from transport groups for adjustments to help address increasing operating costs. Transport group Piston has also announced a nationwide transport strike on September 29 and 30 over surging fuel prices.
