The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 8 is continually monitoring public utility vehicles (PUVs) in Eastern Visayas amid the oil crisis to ensure compliance with regular fare rates.
In a Tuesday report by RH 34 Jayne Galit Bantayan of Aksyon Radyo Catarman, the LTFRB aims to enforce President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive that no fare hike should be implemented at this time.
LTFRB Information Officer Veronica Reposar said passengers may submit complaints to the transport franchising board through its email or official Facebook page to report drivers who charge an increased fare, urging them to provide complete details for the swift identification of the offender.
The board revealed that they have been receiving such complaints since the rise in pump prices began.
Meanwhile, a number of senior citizens confirmed that they have not been given their due 20 percent discount on PUV fares, despite the LTFRB’s appeal against violations of mandated fare discounts.
Earlier, President Marcos ordered a suspension of the fare hike while promising to provide assistance for the transport sector.
