The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), under the Department of Transportation, has issued a show cause order (SCO) against the operator and driver of a passenger bus involved in a crash in Camarines Sur that injured several passengers.
LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II ordered Raymond Transportation to submit a notarized explanation on why its Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be suspended or revoked due to the incident.
“The investigation will give both the operator and the driver the opportunity to explain their side. I expect them to cooperate because it’s their franchise that is at stake here,” Mendoza said.
The operator was also directed to bring the bus driver involved in the crash, which happened at around 5:00 a.m. on April 25 along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Sigamot, Libmanan, Camarines Sur.
The driver is required to undergo mandatory drug testing and a road safety seminar. The operator must also present documents on the preventive maintenance of the bus.
A hearing is set on May 14.
The LTFRB warned that failure to appear will be considered a waiver of the right to be heard, and the case will be decided based on available records.
Mendoza also directed the LTFRB Bicol office to assist injured passengers in processing insurance claims.
