The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 3 has issued Show Cause Orders (SCOs) against several Public Utility Jeepney (PUJ) operators and transport terminals for operating dilapidated vehicles and failing to meet prescribed safety and service standards.

The inspections, conducted under Regional Director P/Gen. Richard A. Albano (ret.) and guided by LTFRB Chairman Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II, form part of the agency’s ongoing campaign to ensure roadworthy public transport and safe, accessible terminals, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to strengthen commuter welfare.

A total of 17 transport terminals across Central Luzon were inspected including:

  1. Angeles–San Fernando Terminal, City of San Fernando, Pampanga
  2. Tarlac City Terminal, Tarlac City
  3. SM Telabastagan Terminal, City of San Fernando
  4. Arayat Central Terminal, Arayat, Pampanga
  5. Ayala Mall MarQuee Transport Terminal, Angeles City
  6. Cabanatuan City Central Terminal, Cabanatuan City
  7. Hensonville Terminal, Angeles City
  8. Balibago Terminal, Angeles City
  9. Meycauayan City Terminal, Bulacan
  10. San Matias–San Fernando Terminal, City of San Fernando
  11. Vivencio Cuyugan Terminal, City of San Fernando
  12. Genesis Bus Terminal, City of San Fernando
  13. Dau–Mabalacat Bus Terminal, Mabalacat City
  14. Bayanihan Terminal, Angeles City
  15. SM City Pampanga Terminal, City of San Fernando
  16. Porac–Angeles Terminal, Porac, Pampanga
  17. Manibaug–Angeles–Sta. Cruz Terminal, Angeles City

Twelve terminals were found non-compliant due to issues such as unsanitary or missing restrooms, lack of seating, absent CCTV systems, missing PWD ramps, and absence of breastfeeding rooms.

Simultaneously, 12 PUJs were flagged for violations including defective parts, missing signage for PWDs and “No Smoking” areas, absent LTFRB hotline markings, and unregistered plate numbers.

Regional Director Albano emphasized that unsafe and substandard public transport will not be tolerated, reminding operators to strictly comply with government regulations, with violations subject to appropriate sanctions

LTFRB Region 3 stated that inspections will continue to ensure all public transport units remain roadworthy and that terminals provide safe, clean, and accessible facilities for commuters.
