The Light Rail Transportation 1 (LRT-1) announced on Saturday that it will temporarily suspend its operations next weekend, December 3 to 4 to prepare for the opening of Roosevelt station.
In a statement, the management said it is gearing up to conduct readiness tests, trial runs, and exercises to check the integration of the Roosevelt area under LRT-1's brand-new Alstom signaling system.
"We advise our passengers to plan their trips ahead. We assure the public that the upcoming weekend closure with temporary inconvenience will result in long-term benefits for our commuters,” Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) Chief Operating Officer Rolando Paulino III said.
“In coordination with our private and government partners, it will be all hands on deck to ensure a safe and successful resumption of commercial operations for the full line,” he added.
Once the results of the operational exercises are passable, Paulino said the LRT-1 Baclaran Station to Roosevelt Station will commence operation the following day, Dec. 5.
"This is on the back of LRMC's efforts to make LRT-1 Roosevelt Station become operational at the soonest possible time after being handed over the government last June 2022,” the LRMC Chief said.
