The trough of a low-pressure area (LPA) located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) continues to bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over several parts of the country on Friday, July 31, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said the Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga Region, Davao Region, Masbate, Sarangani, and South Cotabato are expected to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.

Residents in areas affected by heavy rainfall were advised to remain alert for possible flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas.

As of 2 a.m. on July 31, PAGASA reported that the LPA, identified as LPA 07f, remains outside the PAR and has a low chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

PAGASA continues to closely monitor the weather disturbance and urged the public to stay updated on the latest weather bulletins.
