A low pressure area (LPA) was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Wednesday, June 17, and has a "medium" chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 8:00 a.m., the weather disturbance was estimated at 2,900 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
Meanwhile, the easterlies continue to affect the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA said Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
Residents in affected areas are advised to remain vigilant against possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
