

A low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) developed into a tropical depression on Monday, July 13, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, the tropical depression was last located 1,275 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center, with gusts of up to 70 kilometers per hour.
The weather disturbance was moving west-northwestward at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour.
PAGASA said the tropical depression has a low chance of entering PAR based on its 5 a.m. weather update.
The state weather bureau continues to monitor the system and will provide updates as necessary.
