The low pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) now has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 2 a.m., the LPA was located 1,470 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao. It may develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the northeast monsoon is affecting Luzon, while the trough of the LPA is affecting parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
Visayas, Mindanao, Sorsogon, and Masbate will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA.
Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and the rest of the Bicol Region will have cloudy skies with rains caused by the northeast monsoon.
Cordillera Administrative Region, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon will experience cloudy skies with light rains, also due to the northeast monsoon.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
