The low-pressure area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) now has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
As of 2 a.m., the LPA was located 1,315 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
If the LPA develops into a tropical depression, it will be given the local name “Caloy.”
Meanwhile, PAGASA said in its weather forecast that the northeast monsoon or amihan is affecting Luzon, while the trough of the LPA is bringing cloudy skies and rain showers over parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
