A Low Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its 2:00 a.m. weather advisory on Monday, May 25, PAGASA said the weather disturbance, identified as LPA 05e, was last spotted 1,515 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao.

Due to the trough or extension of the LPA, cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected over Mindanao and Palawan.

Meanwhile, the easterlies or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over the Bicol Region and Quezon province.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may also experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA reminded the public to remain alert for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Sunrise on Monday was recorded at 5:27 a.m., while sunset is expected at 6:20 p.m. | DZRH News
