The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression, the PAGASA said.

As of 5:00 PM on Monday, March 9, DOST-PAGASA Weather Specialist Charmagne Varilla said that the LPA was located at 1,415 km east of Eastern Visayas. According to their data, the state weather bureau will not rule out that it will enter the PAR.

In the coming days, the LPA will move northeastward, moving away from the country.

Parts of Visayas and Mindanao, however, are affected by the LPA’s trough. Varilla said that the eastern portion of Mindanao will experience moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon continues to affect Luzon, causing darkened skies and light rains, specifically in the eastern portion of Northern Luzon.
