A low pressure area (LPA) east of Surigao City continues to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms over large parts of the country on Monday, June 29, the state weather bureau said.

In its 3 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was estimated at 495 kilometers east of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

PAGASA said the weather disturbance has a "medium" likelihood of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

The LPA will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the Visayas, Bicol Region, Caraga, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, and Romblon.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over the rest of the MIMAROPA region.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned the public that moderate to, at times, heavy rains associated with the LPA and the southwest monsoon may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in areas vulnerable to these hazards.

Residents are advised to continue monitoring the latest weather advisories and take necessary precautions against possible flooding and thunderstorm-related hazards.
