

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) now has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression, according to PAGASA on Wednesday, January 14.
“As of 2:00 AM today, 14 January 2026, a Low Pressure Area (LPA 01b) is being monitored INSIDE the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has a HIGH chance to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours,” PAGASA said.
The LPA was last located 755 kilometers east of Davao City as of 2:00 a.m.
Meanwhile, based on the state weather bureau’s forecast, the northeast monsoon (Amihan) is affecting Northern Luzon.
Eastern Visayas, Davao Region, Caraga, Camiguin, Misamis Oriental, and Bukidnon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA.
Cagayan, Isabela, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with rains caused by the northeast monsoon.
The Cordillera Administrative Region and the rest of Cagayan Valley will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeast monsoon.
The Ilocos Region and the rest of Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains, also caused by the northeast monsoon.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to easterlies.
The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.
