The low-pressure area (LPA) located east of Mindanao reportedly entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on the morning of Thursday, May 23, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.
PAGASA confirmed to DZRH that the said LPA entered PAR at around 5 AM. The weather disturbance was last seen at 945 kilometers east of Southeastern Mindanao, as of 8 AM.
The state weather bureau said there is a possibility that the LPA may intensify into a cyclone in the next 24 hours. Should it develop into a storm, it will be named "Aghon," marking the first tropical cyclone this year.
