Love Bus returns to Metro Manila with free rides for September
by Jim Fernandez15 September 2025
Flash from the Past: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos lead the launch of the Love Bus.

The Love Bus from the 70’s has made a comeback on the streets of Metro Manila on September 13, and is offering free rides for a whole month!

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. believes many will benefit from the newly-launched bus, which is cost-effective and comfortable, aside from being eco-friendly.

“Itong Love Bus na ito malaking tulong ito sa pagbawas ng polusyon, sa paggastos ng krudo. Malaking tulong din ito sa mga PWD (persons with disabilities) at senior citizens. Malapit na ilalabas ‘yung para sa estudyante na 50 percent discount,” Marcos said.

The bus was built with the elderly and PWDs in mind. To accommodate them, its design includes an access ramp for wheelchairs.

For Metro Manila, all rides on the Love Bus will be free of charge until the end of September. Free rides will continue for PWDs and senior citizens throughout October. Other passengers may also avail of free rides during rush hours, from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

However, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez announced that the agency will be extending the implementation of free rides to serve more commuters.

“Gaya nga ng sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos, dapat paginhawain natin ang araw-araw na biyahe ng ating mga komyuter. Palalawigin pa natin itong Love Bus libreng sakay sa iba’t-ibang lugar sa bansa,” Lopez declared.

The following routes will be serviced by five Love Buses each:

  • Valenzuela Gate Complex (VGC) Terminal – DSWD

  • Batasan Hills Loop

  • VGC Terminal – Parañaque Terminal Exchange (PITX)

Approximately 600 passengers can be served at each route.

President Marcos vowed during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) that he would revive the iconic Love Bus from the 1970s and, even better, have commuters ride for free.
