The Love Bus from the 70’s has made a comeback on the streets of Metro Manila on September 13, and is offering free rides for a whole month!
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. believes many will benefit from the newly-launched bus, which is cost-effective and comfortable, aside from being eco-friendly.
The bus was built with the elderly and PWDs in mind. To accommodate them, its design includes an access ramp for wheelchairs.
For Metro Manila, all rides on the Love Bus will be free of charge until the end of September. Free rides will continue for PWDs and senior citizens throughout October. Other passengers may also avail of free rides during rush hours, from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
However, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Acting Secretary Giovanni Lopez announced that the agency will be extending the implementation of free rides to serve more commuters.
The following routes will be serviced by five Love Buses each:
-
Valenzuela Gate Complex (VGC) Terminal – DSWD
-
Batasan Hills Loop
-
VGC Terminal – Parañaque Terminal Exchange (PITX)
Approximately 600 passengers can be served at each route.
President Marcos vowed during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) that he would revive the iconic Love Bus from the 1970s and, even better, have commuters ride for free.
