Veteran actress Lorna Tolentino is now a member of the Philippine Navy Reserve Command after completing the Basic Citizen Military Course (BCMC).
In a Facebook post on Friday, August 7, Tolentino shared snaps of her graduation ceremony, showing her wearing the Philippine Navy uniform.
Her son, Rap Fernandez, was also present at the event to celebrate the milestone.
“Discipline is choosing to finish, even when it’s hard. Just finished,” Tolentino said in the caption.
“Lorna Tolentino Fernandez, at your service. Philippine Navy Reserve Command.”
“Mabuhay ang Pilipinas!“ she added.
During the event, Tolentino credited her late husband, actor Rudy “Daboy” Fernandez, who was also a Philippine Navy reservist, as her inspiration for taking on the challenge.
The 64-year-old actress also recounted the sea training she and her fellow trainees underwent in Cavite, saying her husband’s experience as a reservist inspired her to enlist.
Tolentino now joins several Filipino celebrities who are members of the Philippine Navy Reserve Command or have served as military reservists, including Dingdong Dantes, Rocco Nacino, Nadia Montenegro, Matteo Guidicelli, Karina Bautista, Christopher de Leon, Julia Barretto, Gerald Anderson and Ronnie Liang.
