According to PAGASA, tropical depression ‘Ada’ has intensified over the Philippine Sea east of Mindanao, prompting Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 in parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The depression packs maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gusts up to 70 km/h, and strong winds reaching 400 km from its center. Rough seas with waves up to 4 meters and heavy rainfall are expected.

Areas under signal include Sorsogon and southeastern Albay; Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, parts of Biliran, Leyte, and Southern Leyte; and Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur. Ada may intensify further and possibly make landfall over Eastern Visayas or Bicol.

Authorities urged residents and local disaster offices to take precautions and monitor weather advisories.
