Former National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Assistant Director Lito Magno has been appointed as the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) Director of the bureau, replacing former chief Jaime Santiago, according to a reliable DZRH News source.

The appointment comes after President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. accepted the irrevocable resignation of Santiago.

During the bureau’s flag-raising ceremony held in Pasay City, Santiago confirmed that he had been informed of the President’s decision. In his farewell message, he encouraged his successor to continue the reforms and positive programs he had initiated within the agency.

RH Jecelle Ricafort reported, Magno previously served as Assistant Director and held key positions in the NBI’s Northern Mindanao and Central Luzon regional offices, where he led several major operations against human trafficking and organized crime.

The new OIC, along with other NBI officials, spearheaded the operation that led to the arrest of former Bamban Mayor Alice Guo in Indonesia, a case that drew significant public attention.
