Former Vice President Leni Robredo’s civic-oriented organization Angat Buhay has voiced their support for the large-scale anti-corruption movement occurring on Sunday, September 21.

The organization recalled the “fear, abuse, and silenced freedoms” enforced by former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.’s Martial Law 53 years ago.

“Corruption remains our greatest enemy, robbing our children of classrooms, our families of hospitals, and our people of their dignity every day. Yet as the nation once stood together to overcome tyranny, so too will it be the strength of the people that will bring an end to corruption,” the organization’s statement read.

True power, the organization said, does not belong to a dictator or the wealthy few but to the people.

“Hindi tayo makakalimot. At hindi tayo titigil hanggang masiguro nating ang kinabukasan ng ating bayan ay nakaugat sa katapatan, katarungan, at pagkakaisa,” the organization said.

Angat Buhay is a non-profit organization that seeks to empower Filipinos through volunteerism in the implementation of civic programs and began as a government program under the Office of the Vice President.
