Sen. Loren Legarda has extended her medical leave, according to Senate Secretary Renato Bantug Jr.

Bantug said Legarda's office notified the Senate that the senator would be on medical leave from Aug. 24 to 26 and again on Sept. 1 and 2.

“The Office of Senator Legarda sent notice today that the Senator shall be on medical leave Aug 24-26 and Sep 1-2,” Bantug told reporters.

Legarda initially went on medical leave on Aug. 3. Her absences have brought to seven the number of times she has missed the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, where senators are serving as impeachment judges.

The Office of the Ombudsman had earlier questioned the allegedly prolonged overseas trips of Legarda and her son, Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste. Both have been named in complaints for plunder and graft in connection with alleged “ghost solar projects.”

Legarda has denied wrongdoing and said she complied with Senate rules when she filed for medical leave.

The impeachment trial against Duterte is continuing at the Senate, with lawmakers examining allegations related to misuse of confidential funds, unexplained wealth, grave threats.
