Broadway darling Lea Salonga reached for the stars—and snagged one! The highly-acclaimed singer-actress has claimed a star on Hollywood’s celebrated Walk of Fame, she announced early Thursday morning.
“Just now woke up to this bit of amazing news!!! To the Manila International Filmfest, many thanks for nominating me to be part of the class of 2025-26!” the “Miss Saigon” star said.
The Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) celebrated her achievement in a joyous Instagram post.
“From Broadway to Disney to the global concert stage, Lea has been a trailblazer and a voice for generations. Her impact on the world of music, theater, and film is undeniable—and her legacy continues to open doors for countless Filipino and Asian artists worldwide,” it wrote.
“This recognition is not just for her extraordinary talent, but for everything she represents: excellence, integrity, and cultural pride,” it added.
According to a report on MBC TV Network News, the Tony Award-winning celebrity was chosen under the category of live theatre and live performance.
Besides Salonga, among the 35 honorees whose names will be gracing the Walk of Fame are Grammy Award-winning singer Miley Cyrus and Australian soft rock duo Air Supply.
To be honored under the motion pictures category are “Little Women” actor Timothée Chalamet, “The Devil Wears Prada” diva Emily Blunt, and “Ghost” star Demi Moore.
Meanwhile, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal have been chosen under the television category.
Details regarding the exact date of the unveiling of the stars have yet to be released.
