Pampanga First District Rep. Carmelo Lazatin Jr. has formally sought ₱300 million in funding under the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) for the reconstruction of portions of the Pampang Public Market in Angeles City that were destroyed by fire.
In a letter dated September 17 addressed to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Lazatin requested the allocation for the 2027 reconstruction of the affected sections of the market, which serves as a major commercial hub for Angeles City and nearby communities.
Lazatin also coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regarding the assessment of the damage and the proposed reconstruction.
“Babangon muli ang Pampang Public Market,” Lazatin said, as he expressed support for vendors and workers affected by the blaze.
“Nakikiramay at nakikiisa ako at ang aking tanggapan sa mga vendors at kanilang pamilya, gayundin sa kanilang mga trabahante sa naganap na sunog sa Pampang Market. Kasama po ninyo ako sa inyong pagbangon," he added.
The fire broke out at the Pampang Public Market on the evening of September 16, with authorities conducting ongoing damage and safety assessments. The market's affected sections were temporarily closed following the incident.
The proposed funding is intended to help restore the damaged portions of the market and support the recovery of one of the key centers of local commerce in the first district of Pampanga.
