The last four Filipino crew members of the MT Aqua 1 have safely returned to the country on April 29, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
The Filipinos arrived in the country through a commercial flight that landed at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal in Pasay City.
Officials from the DMW and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) welcomed the returning seafarers upon arrival and immediately provided them with financial assistance.
The first batch of 10 crew members returned to the Philippines on April 15, followed by another group on April 22. All returning personnel have received financial aid from the government.
The Philippine government, led by the DMW, assured continued support for the affected seafarers to help them recover and reintegrate following the incident.
Meanwhile, maritime operations in the region continue to normalize.
As of April 29, Wednesday, four additional vessels carrying a total of 93 Filipino crew members have safely exited the Strait of Hormuz. This brings the total number of Filipino seafarers who have left the strategic waterway to over 1,200.
The DMW said it is closely monitoring developments in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman to ensure the safety and security of Filipino seafarers still operating in the area.
"The Department remains in close coordination with shipping principals, manning agencies and families of the crew, for updates and needed support," the DMW said.
