Actress and Cavite 2nd District Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla has appealed for understanding, fairness, and respect for due process as legal proceedings involving her husband, former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., continue amid his detention in the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas.

In a Facebook post, Mercado Revilla said, “The cases involving my husband, former Senator Bong Revilla, Jr., are now under judicial review.”

Her statement came as Revilla was detained in the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology’s (BJMP) Quezon City Jail male dormitory in Payatas after being involved in a high‑profile malversation and graft case tied to an alleged P92.8‑million “ghost” flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan, where prosecutors say funds were reported as completed despite little or no actual work being done. Though he posted bail for the graft charge, the malversation charge remains non‑bailable under Philippine law, keeping him in custody.

Mercado-Revilla also clarified her public stance on the matter, stating, “I would also like to clarify that I have not issued any public statements regarding this matter, and I do not intend to make any public comments moving forward.” She appealed to the public and media to allow the judicial system to operate without undue pressure.

The detention at the Payatas facility has drawn attention, with authorities emphasizing that no special treatment will be given to the former senator and that standard jail protocols apply. Revilla and his co-accused are currently under quarantine and classification before being integrated into the general detainee population.

Concluding her message, Mercado Revilla said their family remains hopeful for justice, adding, “Our family continues to draw strength from our faith, and we remain hopeful for a fair and just resolution. Thank you for your understanding.”
