Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson has expressed readiness to advise fellow senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa should the International Criminal Court (ICC) issue a warrant of arrest against him.

In a statement on Tuesday, Lacson emphasized that no such warrant has been confirmed. “First of all, it’s not confirmed that a warrant of arrest has been issued. I was calling him, I believe three days ago, just to give some oral support—being a former colleague, a comrade in arms in the PNP,” Lacson said.

He added that he hopes personally speak with Dela Rosa to offer guidance. “I hope we can talk so I can give him some advice—not to hide, but on how to face criminal charges, because for him, this is something novel,” he said.

Lacson shared that while he himself had faced cases before local courts, the situation Dela Rosa may face before the ICC would be far more complex.

“This time around, it’s more challenging for him because it involves the International Criminal Court. I want to share my own personal experiences within the bounds of the law and ICC rules—not for anything else, but to guide him,” he explained.

Asked whether his advice would include how to evade arrest, Lacson responded with humor: “He hasn’t decided to hide. If he decides to hide, I’ll teach him how to hide. Just kidding. Anyway, that’s for the law enforcement authorities to handle,” he said.

Lacson’s remarks come amid mounting attention on Dela Rosa, as reports circulate about possible ICC action.
