Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said on Saturday that he will resume the Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on November 14 if he is re-elected as the committee’s chairman on November 10.
In his social media post, he said that the move aims to help speed up the filing of airtight cases against certain politicians, officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and errant contractors.
“We will invite among others, a ‘very important witness’ and retired TSgt Orly Guteza to shed more light on his ‘sinumpaang salaysay’,” the senator added.
During the previous committee hearing on flood control anomalies, Orly Guteza, a former security consultant of former Ako Bicol Representative Zaldy Co, testified before the Senate that he personally delivered bags containing millions of pesos in cash to Co and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Lacson earlier expressed concern over the unexpected presentation of Guteza without prior notice to the committee, describing him as a "totally surprise witness,” and thus, called for a full record check and background investigation (RCBI).
