Senator Panfilo “Ping“ Lacson on Thursday weighed in on the Senate shooting incident last night, May 13, saying that the person with the “means, opportunity, and motive” is the most probable suspect.
“More on the Senate incident last night: He who has the MEANS, OPPORTUNITY and MOTIVE is the most probable suspect,” Lacson said on Thursday morning, May 14.
Lacson, a former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, earlier expressed concern over reports of chaos and alleged gunfire inside the Senate building, urging a thorough and immediate investigation to determine those responsible.
He added that the next step should focus on establishing key facts surrounding the incident, including who discharged the firearm, the intended target, and the motive behind it.
“Next thing to do is investigate to find out who fired his/their gun/s, at whom and most importantly, the motive,” Lacson said.
Meanwhile, Lacson also confirmed that his team inside the Senate was safe following the incident, with no reported injuries among his staff.
“Checked my staff, they’re all safe. Thank God no reports of casualties or injuries,” he said Wednesday night, May 13.
