The Government has denied reports of an alleged plot to forcibly overthrow the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. through a supposed coup called “Kudeta Me”.
In a report by DZRH's Edniel Parrosa, it was likewise mentioned that this alleged destabilization plot is being linked to a so-called “third force”.
In a statement, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. said that claims involving various personalities suggest that any planned unrest could later be blamed on the United People’s Initiative (UPI). The UPI is composed of retired uniform personnel who are against the alleged corruption of the current administration.
Teodoro challenged those individuals behind the “Kudeta Me” rumors to present evidence and file a complaint so the matter can be formally investigated.
Concurrently, retired Air Force General Romeo De Vera Poquiz, convenor of the UPI, claimed that a “third force”, or this new group, is allegedly pushing for a civil-military junta based on the circulating allegations.
Atty. Levito ‘Levy’ Baligod, lawyer for the 18 bagmen of Zaldy Co, also said that this issue may be connected to the increased security currently in place around Malacañang Palace.
Among the alleged plans attributed to the so-called “third force” are assasination attempts and bombings that could be executed or blamed on opposition groups.
On the other hand, Teodoro denied the alleged threat and maintained that the government is not monitoring any such activity as of this moment.
