Korea’s Wooyoung Cho captured the Philippine Golf Championship title on Sunday with a masterful performance at Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, triumphing over a field of top Asian Tour competitors, on Sunday, February 8.
The 24-year-old, who turned professional in 2024, overcame a two-stroke deficit against India’s Karandeep Kochhar by firing a five-under-par 67 in the final round, navigating the course despite persistent rains.
Cho stumbled early with a bogey on the opening hole but quickly bounced back, sinking six birdies and thrilling the crowd with a 20-foot putt that pushed his final score to 11-under 277 over four days.
Thailand’s Pavit Tangkamolprasert challenged Cho mid-round with back-to-back birdies on the 12th hole but faltered with a bogey on the 17th, finishing second at 281.
Travis Smyth of the United States completed the podium in third place with a total of 283, carding a 73 on the final day.
Cho’s triumph also comes with a $90,000 top prize, plus an additional $10,000 from Wack Wack Golf awarded for the day’s lowest round.
The Philippine Golf Championship, a highlight of the Asian Tour season, is expected to return in February 2027, promising another competitive field and memorable moments on the greens.
