This is not an April Fool’s joke; KitKat really launched a tracker to find the stolen 12 tonnes of their chocolate bars.
On Wednesday, April 1, the chocolate bar announced on their social media pages, clarifying their intention to track down the missing batch.
“Thank you for your interest in the missing KitKats. But just to clarify, this is not a stunt, or an April Fool’s joke. Someone really stole 12 tonnes of KitKats. And we really want to know where they’ve gone,” its statement read.
It continued by announcing that they have created a “Stolen KitKat Tracker” that lets people check if their KitKats are from the missing batch.
The website allows the public to type in the eight-digit batch number from the back of their chocolate bars into the tracker.
Last week, Nestlé confirmed that a truck carrying 413,793 KitKat bars went completely off the grid. The truck had departed central Italy and was bound for Poland when the heist took place.
Following the incident, KitKat issued a statement, announcing that the missing chocolate bars were traceable via unique batch codes.
