Filipino forward Kevin Quiambao has been named the Korean Basketball League Rookie of the Year for the 2025-2026 season, continuing a growing streak of Filipino success in the league.
Quiambao, a standout for the Goyang Sono Skygunners, averaged 15.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.4 blocks per game in an all-around campaign that helped lift his club to its first playoff appearance with a 28–26 record.
The do-it-all forward, who also plays for Gilas Pilipinas, became the third consecutive Filipino to capture the KBL Rookie of the Year award. He follows fellow Filipinos RJ Abarrientos and JD Cagulangan, who earned the honor in previous seasons.
A product of UAAP powerhouse De La Salle University, Quiambao previously established himself as one of the top collegiate players in the Philippines, winning two Most Valuable Player awards before making the jump to the professional ranks abroad.
His latest achievement further strengthens the presence of Filipino talent in the Korean Basketball League, where players from the Philippines have recently made a strong impact.
