KatyCats, a fan-favorite track, is about to make a comeback!
Katy Perry is about to tug at fans’ heartstrings as the singer revealed that a director’s cut of her hit song, “The One That Got Away,” is set to drop on Wednesday, April 22, at midnight (Philippine time).
Decades after the release of the “Teenage Dream” album, the singer teased on early Tuesday a snippet of the heartbreak anthem’s Director’s Cut version. The revival of “The One That Got Away” features new narration from musician and former Fleetwood Mac lead vocalist Stevie Nicks.
“The past is like a handful of dust. It filters through your fingers, disappearing, little by little,” Stevie said in the narration. “I wish, for one day, I could go back. In another life, I would do things differently.”
The 37-second trailer walks audiences through the haunting concept of what could have been in a relationship, offering glimpses of photographs, road trips, and candlelit moments.
In a TikTok update, Katy shared her “top 5 horror movies.” At number 5, she wrote, “Never releasing the TOTGA Director’s Cut.”

The renewed attention to the “Teenage Dream” standout track among younger audiences seems to have sparked the updated release. Several fan edits from various television shows and films have used the heartbreak anthem for video edits related to “right person, wrong time.”
Earlier this month, the track debuted at Billboard Philippines Hot 100, taking the 90th position.
