KATSEYE leader Sophia Laforteza will resume group activities in the first week of January 2027 after taking a months-long break to prioritize her health and well-being.
In a statement on Friday night, HYBE x Geffen announced that Laforteza will resume group activities in January 2027, which means she will miss the group’s THE WILDWORLD TOUR in North America and its promotional activities for the remainder of 2026.
“We are happy to share that Sophia will resume group activities with KATSEYE beginning the first week of January 2027,” HYBE x Geffen said.
The company added that Laforteza has been prioritizing her health and well-being with its full support and resources.
It also thanked the group's fans, known as ”EYEKONS,” for their continued love, support and understanding during the singer's time away from group activities.
“We look forward to welcoming her back as KATSEYE continues this next chapter together in 2027,“ it said.
In a separate message to fans, Laforteza expressed gratitude for their patience and kindness, saying their support had given her ”strength” as she continued receiving the care she needed.
The Filipino member said she had been learning how to ”better support herself and nurture her well-being,” emphasizing the importance of caring for both her mind and body.
She also acknowledged that stepping back from activities had not been easy, particularly because she would miss the remainder of the group's tour this year.
“It pains me deeply that I won't be able to participate in the remainder of the tour this year,” Laforteza said, adding that she would use the time to continue training and prepare for her return.
“As much as I wish I could simply push through, I've come to understand that sometimes having the courage to take a step back is what allows you to move forward,” she added.
Laforteza said she hoped to return ”happier, healthier, stronger and more grounded,” expressing excitement about performing onstage with her fellow members again.
She also urged fans to continue supporting the group while she remains away from performances and promotional activities.
“I can't wait to share the stage with my sisters again and look out to all of you! Please continue to support and cheer on my girls!!! Trust that we've been keeping in touch, and know that you are always on my mind,“ Laforteza added.
KATSEYE, formed through the reality competition series The Debut: Dream Academy, is a global girl group created through a collaboration between HYBE and Geffen Records. Its members are Sophia Laforteza, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Manon Bannerman and Yoonchae Jeung.
