Kanlaon Volcano emits ash on Thursday, October 30, 2025.

The Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island showed signs of activity on Thursday afternoon, releasing an ash plume that rose about 300 meters above its summit crater, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

In its advisory, PHIVOLCS said the minor eruption occurred between 12:37 PM and 12:57 PM on October 30, 2025. The grayish ash plume drifted westward, as captured by the Kanlaon Volcano Observatory – Canlaon City (KVO-CC) IP Camera.

Authorities confirmed that Alert Level 2 remains raised over Kanlaon, meaning the volcano is in a state of moderate unrest and that sudden phreatic or steam-driven eruptions could still occur.

Residents and visitors are strongly advised to avoid the four-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) due to the potential for unexpected explosions and hazardous ashfall.

PHIVOLCS continues to closely monitor Kanlaon’s activity and has assured the public that updates will be issued as new developments arise.
