Two ash emission events were recorded at Kanlaon Volcano early Friday morning, June 19, 2026, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
State volcanologists reported that the emissions occurred at 3:32 a.m. and 5:35 a.m. from the volcano’s summit crater.
Phivolcs said the ash emissions produced grayish plumes that rose up to 300 meters above the crater before drifting southwest.
“These events generated grayish plumes that rose 300 meters above the crater before drifting southwest, as captured by the thermal camera at the Lower Masulog observation station (VKLM) and the IP camera at Kanlaon Volcano Observatory–Canlaon City (KVO-CC),” the agency said.
Alert Level 2 remains in effect over the volcano.
Phivolcs reiterated that entry into the six-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) is strictly prohibited due to the continuing risk of sudden volcanic activity.
The bureau continue to remind residents near the volcano to remain vigilant and follow safety advisories as monitoring of Kanlaon continues.
