A new ash-emission event was recorded at Kanlaon Volcano on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
As captured by its IP camera at Kanlaon Volcano Observatory-Canlaon City, Phivolcs said the ash emission at the volcano’s summit crater occurred from around 1:41 p.m. to 2:38 p.m.
The event produced grayish ash plumes that rose up to 750 meters above the crater before drifting north-northwest.
“This event generated grayish plumes that rose 750 meters above the crater before drifting north-northwest, as captured by the IP camera at Kanlaon Volcano Observatory–Canlaon City (KVO-CC),” Phivolcs said in a Facebook post.
Earlier in the morning of the same day, another ash emission was recorded at around 10:14 a.m., July 1.
Phivolcs reported that the plume from the morning activity reached an estimated height of 700 meters above the summit crater.
Kanlaon Volcano remains under Alert Level 2, which indicates ongoing moderate levels of volcanic unrest and the possibility of sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions.
