UST tennis star Justine Hannah Maneja reflected on her campaign after competing in the first-ever Philippine Women’s Open 2026, describing the experience as both challenging and rewarding for her development as an athlete.

In an exclusive interview on Matchpoint on DZRH TV, Maneja shared that she and her doubles partner, Kaye Ann Emana, initially felt nervous heading into the competition. Facing a high level of play, the pair found themselves reassessing their game plan and preparing mentally for a tough battle on the court. However, as the match progressed, their confidence gradually built up. They began to trust their preparation, execute their strategies more effectively, and believe in their ability to compete at a higher level.

She also added, “No matter what happens, gagawin namin lahat. Kahit ga’no kahirap yung kalaban.”

Maneja explained that their key advantage during the tournament was their agility. She noted that it helped them cover the court efficiently, respond quickly to rallies, and stay competitive against their opponents.

Despite their determination and effort, the UST doubles tandem fell short against Darja Semenistaja and Nicole Fossa Huergo, absorbing a 2-6, 2-6 defeat. While the result did not favor them, the experience provided valuable exposure and lessons that Maneja believes will help them grow in future competitions.

Through the tournament, Maneja demonstrated resilience and a fighting mindset, highlighting the importance of perseverance regardless of the challenge posed by their opponents.
