The House Committee on Justice on Wednesday issued a subpoena for the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to attend the last impeachment hearing against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The committee issued a duces tecum and ad testificandum subpoenas, ordering the bureau to produce relevant documents and give an oral testimony on the threats made by Duterte against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.
The motion was put forth by Committee Vice Chairperson Jonathan Keith Flores and seconded.
In 2024, Duterte held a virtual press conference where she claimed she had contracted the services of a hit man to kill President Marcos, his wife, and cousin former House Speaker Martin Romualdez if she herself is killed.
“May kinausap na ako. Sinabi ko sa kaniya na kapag pinatay ako, patayin mo si BBM, si Liza Araneta at si Martin Romualdez. No joke. Sabi ko, huwag ka tumigil hanggang hindi mo mapatay sila, and then he said yes,” she said in her expletive-riddled conference.
On another occasion, she said she had imagined beheading Marcos.
“I imagine myself cutting his head. So noon, narealize ko toxic na ‘di ba, ganyan na ‘yung imagination mo, sinasakal mo na yung tao,” she said.
The last impeachment hearing is set for next Wednesday, April 29.
