Beauty queen Joy Barcoma took a sharp swipe at Senator Robin Padilla on social media after the lawmaker shared a viral, yet debunked, "copy-paste" privacy disclaimer regarding Meta’s data policies.

The controversy began when Padilla posted a lengthy statement on his Facebook account claiming that by publishing the note, he was prohibiting Meta from using his personal data, photos, and profile updates.

The post, which has circulated in various forms for years, falsely suggests that "Facebook Meta" had become a "public entity" and that a manual declaration was required to protect user privacy.

The Miss Earth Philippines 2025 runner-up mocked the senator by mimicking the format of the viral hoax.

“Facebook Meta is now a public entity. Every member must post a note like this,” Barcoma wrote. “I HEREBY DECLARE THAT SOBRANG GULLIBLE NG MGA TAO SA SOCIAL MEDIA AT NUNG ISA DYAN HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA (I hereby declare that people on social media are so gullible, especially that one person there).”

The "one person" in Barcoma’s post was widely interpreted by netizens as a reference to Padilla, whose post had already begun to draw ridicule before it was eventually deleted.
